Mineral resources of Azerbaijan

The Lesser Caucasus is rich in minerals. The Dashkasan iron-ore deposit is the largest in the South Caucasus; gold, copper and silver are mined at Gadabay, and Zaylik has a deposit of alunite, a raw material for aluminium. Gold and other metal deposits are being studied again in the liberated districts such as Kalbajar and Zangilan.

Naftalan produces a unique healing oil used in bath treatments, and mineral waters such as Badamli, Istisu and Sirab are known at home and abroad.
