TİKA — Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency

Türkiye's development and aid agency, set up in 1992 to support the newly independent Turkic republics.

TİKA was established on 24 January 1992 under Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its first task was to support the Turkic republics that had become independent after the collapse of the Soviet Union, in state-building, the economy, education and culture.

The agency later came under the Prime Ministry and today reports to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Its work is no longer limited to the Turkic world: it now runs projects in more than 170 countries.

In the Turkic states TİKA supports the building of schools and hospitals, the restoration of historic monuments and agricultural and vocational training projects.
