Buhurizade Mustafa Itri
One of the greatest composers of classical Turkish music (c. 1640–1712), composer of the festival Tekbir.
Mustafa Itri was born in Istanbul and became known at the court of Mehmed IV as a musician and poet. His pen name "Itri" means "fragrant".
He is said to have composed more than a thousand works, of which about forty survive, both secular (peşrev, beste, semai) and religious.
His Tekbir in makam segah is still sung in Turkish mosques at the Ramadan and Sacrifice festivals, and his Salât-ı Ümmiye is also famous. Itri is regarded as the stylistic yardstick of classical Turkish music.
