Dina Nurpeisova
Kuy master and composer (1861–1955), a pupil of Kurmangazy, author of "Bulbul" and "Toy bastar".

Dina Nurpeisova was born in the Bukey Horde and played the dombra from childhood; as a young woman she was taken on as a pupil by Kurmangazy after he heard her play.
One of the most eminent heirs of the western (tökpe) school, she composed kuys such as "Bulbul", "Toy bastar", "Kenes" and "Zhenis", the last dedicated to the victory of 1945.
She won a prize at a folk performers' competition in Moscow in 1939 and became a People's Artist of Kazakhstan; a music school and a street in Almaty bear her name.
