Imam al-Bukhari
Hadith scholar (810–870) whose Sahih al-Bukhari is regarded in Sunni Islam as the most authoritative book after the Quran.

Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari was born in Bukhara, began studying hadith at the age of ten and was famed for his memory. Travelling through the cities of the Abbasid Caliphate, he learned from about a thousand scholars.
After scrutinising hundreds of thousands of reports, he gathered the hadiths he accepted in Sahih al-Bukhari in 846, a book read throughout the Sunni world.
He died in 870 in the village of Khartank near Samarkand, and his mausoleum and memorial complex are among the most revered shrines of the Muslim world.
