Kokpar
Riders battling for a goat carcass — the most thrilling national game of the Kazakh steppe.

In kokpar riders fight to seize a goat or sheep carcass (the kokpar) and hurl it into the opponents' "kazan", a special goal area. The game demands great strength, courage and superb horsemanship.
In the past kokpar was played at festivals, weddings and Nauryz with hundreds of riders and served as training for steppe warriors. The Kyrgyz call it kok-boru and the Afghans buzkashi.
Today Kazakhstan holds official kokpar championships and a league, and it is one of the most watched events of the World Nomad Games.
