Neft Daşları (Oil Rocks)
A settlement built on trestles in the Caspian, where the world's first offshore oil field went into production in 1949.

Neft Daşları lies in the open sea about 100 kilometres east of Baku. On 7 November 1949 oil flowed from its first well — the world's first offshore oil field to go into production.
Over the following years hundreds of kilometres of trestles, housing, a hospital and a house of culture were built above the sea, creating a "city on the sea". Still in operation, it is a symbol of the oil workers' heroism.
