Uzbekistan national football team

Uzbekistan's national team quickly found success after independence, winning the Asian Games in Hiroshima in 1994.

In 2011 it reached the semi-finals of the Asian Cup, among the best results by a Central Asian team in the tournament.

In 2026 Uzbekistan qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time — the first Central Asian country and the third post-Soviet state after Russia and Ukraine to do so — an achievement celebrated across the country.
