Kazakhstan's satellites: KazSat and KazEOSat
Kazakhstan has had its own communications satellites since 2006 and Earth-observation satellites since 2014.
Kazakhstan's first communications satellite, KazSat-1, was launched from Baikonur on a Proton rocket on 17 June 2006, followed by KazSat-2 in 2011 and KazSat-3 in 2014.
The satellites carry television, internet and telecommunications to the remotest steppe villages and are operated by Kazakhstan's Republican Space Communications Centre.
The Earth-observation satellites KazEOSat-1 and KazEOSat-2 were launched in 2014; their images are used in agriculture, mapping and disaster monitoring.
