State Anthem of Kyrgyzstan

Adopted on 18 December 1992, with music by Nasyr Davlesov and Kalyi Moldobasanov and words by Jalil Sadykov and Shabdanbek Kuluev.

The anthem was adopted by the Supreme Council a year after independence. Its words celebrate the lofty mountains and steppes of the Kyrgyz land and the people's longing for freedom.

It originally had three verses and a chorus; in 2012 the Jogorku Kenesh removed the second verse.

It is performed at state ceremonies, sporting events and in schools, and when Kyrgyz athletes win abroad.
