State Anthem of Uzbekistan

Adopted after independence, with music by Mutal Burhanov and words by the poet Abdulla Aripov.

The music is by Mutal Burhanov, a well-known Uzbek composer of the Soviet era; after independence the poet Abdulla Aripov wrote new words to it.

It opens with the line "Serquyosh hur o‘lkam" — "My sunny free land" — and celebrates the people's happiness, friendship and the spirit of their ancestors.

It is performed at state ceremonies, in schools and at sporting events. Abdulla Aripov is also one of the best-loved Uzbek poets of the 20th century.
