Sulaiman-Too

A sacred mountain in the middle of Osh and, since 2009, Kyrgyzstan's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sulaiman-Too is a five-peaked rock rising in the middle of Osh in the Fergana Valley, a sacred place of pilgrimage since before Islam.

Its slopes hold ancient petroglyphs, caves and shrines where pilgrims pray for health, children and long life. At the end of the 15th century the young Babur built a small prayer house on top, later restored.

In 2009 UNESCO inscribed the Sulaiman-Too Sacred Mountain as a World Heritage Site — the only one lying entirely within Kyrgyzstan — and a history museum occupies a cave inside the mountain.
