Tamara Khanum
Dancer, singer and choreographer (1906–1991) who brought Uzbek women's dance to the stage, People's Artist of the USSR.

Born in the Fergana Valley, Tamara Khanum was one of the first Uzbek women to dance unveiled on stage in the 1920s, when this was considered forbidden.
She brought Khorezm's lazgi and other folk dances to the professional stage, learned and performed the songs and dances of dozens of peoples and toured many countries.
She was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1956, and her house museum is open in Tashkent.
