Telpek
A tall shaggy sheepskin hat — the national headwear of Turkmen men.

The telpek is a large hat of sheepskin sewn with the long wool outward, in white, black or brown; white telpeks are worn at holidays and weddings.
In the desert it shields the head from summer sun and winter cold. It is regarded as a symbol of a man's dignity.
It is widespread in Turkmenistan and among the Turkmens of Afghanistan and Iran, and in Afghanistan other peoples wear it too.
