Turkish hazelnuts

Türkiye is the world's leading hazelnut producer — about two thirds of the global crop grows on its Black Sea coast.

Hazelnuts are the main crop of the humid Black Sea region — Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Samsun, Sakarya and Düzce. Hundreds of thousands of families live from their orchards, and the August harvest is almost a festival.

Türkiye supplies about two thirds of the world's hazelnut production and exports. Most Turkish hazelnuts go into the chocolate and confectionery industry, including the products of the world's best-known brands.

The "Giresun Tombul Fındığı" holds a protected geographical indication in the European Union, and hazelnuts are among Türkiye's top-earning agricultural exports.
