Vaghzali

The wedding music and dance played as the bride leaves her father's house for the groom's.

Vaghzali is the music of the most solemn moment of an Azerbaijani wedding — the bride's departure. As she leaves her father's house the zurna and naghara strike up the vaghzali and relatives and friends dance her on her way.

The melody is joyful and stately yet a little tender, carrying both happiness and parting. It may be played again later to accompany the couple's entrance to the celebration.

Vaghzali is still heard at almost every Azerbaijani wedding.
