Yusif Mammadaliyev
Chemist (1905–1961) who developed a technology for high-octane aviation fuel during the Second World War.

Yusif Mammadaliyev was born in Ordubad in 1905, studied chemistry at Moscow University and worked in petroleum chemistry.
During the Second World War a method for producing high-octane aviation gasoline was developed under his leadership and introduced at Baku refineries — fuel of great importance for aircraft at the front.
He was President of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences from 1958 to 1961. The Institute of Petrochemical Processes and a street in Baku bear his name.
