The Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline runs 1,768 kilometres from the Sangachal terminal through Georgia to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. It opened in 2006.

BTC became the first major route taking Azerbaijani oil to world markets without depending on Russia or the Turkish Straits, and it is the key project binding Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye in regional energy cooperation.
