Charvak Reservoir
A turquoise lake among mountains near Tashkent and the capital's main summer beach and holiday spot.

The reservoir was formed by a 168-metre stone dam on the Chirchiq river; it holds 2 cubic kilometres and is fed by the Pskem, Koksu and Chatkal rivers.
Set between the Ugam, Pskem and Chatkal ranges, it is ringed by snowy peaks, with guesthouses, hotels and beaches along its shores.
In summer visitors swim, go boating and enjoy water sports, while the Charvak hydroelectric station at the dam supplies power to the capital region.
