Great Kurultáj (Bugac)
A festival of nomadic horse culture held in the first week of August on the Bugac steppe in Hungary, bringing together Turkic peoples and Hungarians.

Kurultáj means a great assembly of nomadic peoples. The first was held in 2007 in Kazakhstan's Torgay region, and since 2008 it has been staged in Hungary on the Bugac steppe in Kiskunság National Park.
The festival features a parade of horsemen, horse races, horseback wrestling, mounted archery and other contests, while Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Turkmens, Turks, Azerbaijanis, Bashkirs, Yakuts and others pitch their yurts and show their costumes, music and crafts.
Its aim is to keep alive the shared horse culture of the Eurasian steppe, and the fact that Bugac lies in the lands where the Cumans settled gives the festival special meaning.
