The Herend Porcelain Manufactory was founded in 1826 in the town of Herend near Veszprém. To this day every piece is hand-painted and gilded by craftsmen.

Herend patterns are famous for their flowers, birds and butterflies, and some were inspired by Eastern porcelain. In the 19th century Herend pieces graced the tables of European courts.

Herend porcelain remains one of Hungary's best-known craft brands and is sold in many countries.
