Karamoldo Orozov
Komuz virtuoso and folk singer (1883–1960), a great master of Kyrgyz küü.
Karamoldo Orozov was born in the Küngöy-Aksuu area of today's Issyk-Kul Region and performed in his youth under the name Toktomambet.
One of the finest performers of folk küü and a composer of new ones, he was named People's Artist of the Kirghiz SSR in 1935.
He helped found the Soviet-era school of komuz playing and trained many pupils. He died in Frunze (Bishkek) in 1960.
