Lazgi — Khorezm dance

Lazgi is the folk song and dance of Khorezm. It begins with slow, delicate movements, quickens and ends as a wild, whirling dance.

There are heroic, courageous styles for men and lyrical, humorous ones for women, and the dancer's fingers, shoulders and whole body "speak" with the rhythm.

Great dancers such as Tamara Khanum, Mukarram Turgunbaeva and Gavhar Matyakubova took lazgi to world stages, and UNESCO inscribed "Khorazm dance, Lazgi" in 2019.
