Kodály method
Composer Zoltán Kodály's folk-song-based approach to music education, UNESCO heritage since 2016.
Zoltán Kodály collected and studied Hungarian folk songs with Bartók and believed that music belongs to everyone and that children should learn it like their mother tongue.
The method is built on the voice, singing and folk songs, teaching notes through hand signs and simple syllables, with children first singing the songs of their own people.
Used in schools in many countries today, the Kodály concept was added by UNESCO in 2016 to its Register of Good Safeguarding Practices.
