Armed Forces of Uzbekistan

Founded on 14 January 1992 and regarded as the strongest military in Central Asia.

The Armed Forces of Uzbekistan were founded after independence on 14 January 1992, a date marked every year as Defenders of the Motherland Day.

They consist of the Ground Forces and the Air and Air Defence Forces, together with special forces, the National Guard and the border service, and experts regard them as the strongest in Central Asia.

Uzbekistan pursues a neutral foreign policy: its military is for defence only, and the country does not join military blocs.
