Alagadi, east of Kyrenia, is a beach of two sandy bays where green turtles and loggerheads, rare species of the Mediterranean, come to lay their eggs every summer.

It is a protected area: volunteers of a turtle conservation project watch and guard the nests at night, placing protective cages over them in the sand.

In summer visitors can join the volunteers to watch hatchlings emerge and scramble to the sea, while entering the beach with lights or staying there at night is forbidden.
