Tüýdük
A long Turkmen end-blown flute, traditionally played in epic tunes.
The tüýdük is an open end-blown flute, usually made of reed and sometimes of wood, with several varieties differing in length and number of finger holes.
Players combine the breath tone with a hum from the throat, so its sound evokes the wind, the desert and a shepherd's solitude.
Historically linked to epic tunes, it is played today in folk ensembles alongside the dutar and gyjak.
