Awaza ready for three days of summits: Central Asia–Azerbaijan meeting on 8 October

Awaza, Turkmenistan's national tourist zone on the Caspian coast, will host three major international meetings back to back on 7–9 October. On 7 October the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and a meeting of Caspian environment ministers will take place.

The main event is on 8 October: the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan — the first formal summit since Azerbaijan became a full participant in the format at the Tashkent meeting in November 2025. President Ilham Aliyev is expected to attend. The agenda covers security, trade, energy and transport corridors, water and environmental issues such as the Amu Darya, Syr Darya and Aral Sea, and cultural and educational ties.

On 9 October Awaza will host the CIS Council of Heads of State and a summit on the Caspian environment.
