Ozdemir Tokel, chairman of the board of BRTK, the public broadcaster of Northern Cyprus, took part in the Turkic World Dialogue Forum held in Ankara by the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency under the theme "From Idea to Dialogue, Forward". He spoke on the panel "Media and Communication in the Turkic World".

Tokel said shared screens should give more room to the people, cultures and history of the Turkic world. Understanding one another, he noted, is not only a matter of speaking the same language but of sharing the same feelings.

Saying Northern Cyprus wants to be better known and understood in the Turkic world, Tokel told the panel: "We exist and we are here. We do not disappear because some say 'you do not exist'." He added that he believes the road to political recognition runs through this closeness.
