Northern Cyprus President Erhürman meets UN Secretary-General Guterres in New York

Tufan Erhürman, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, met UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York during the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly to discuss the state of the Cyprus talks.

Erhürman had also met Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides in the UN buffer zone on 9 September, and on 28 September he criticised the Greek Cypriot proposal to add 19 new items to the seven topics put forward by the UN.

He said his side wants results-oriented talks in a 3+1 or 5+1 format rather than meetings for appearance's sake.
