The Great Hun-Turkic Kurultaj was held on the Bugac steppe in Hungary on 14–16 August. Organised by the Hungarian Turan Foundation, the three-day festival brought together delegations from more than 27 Turkic states and communities.

The programme featured horseback games, mounted archery and cavalry displays, nomadic yurts and the "Attila Tent", craft exhibitions and performances based on the Epic of Manas.

OTS Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev attended, noting Hungary's observer status and saying that, as an EU member, Hungary could help bring the Turkic world closer to Europe. Northern Cyprus was also represented.
