Mirziyoyev visits a resource-efficient textile cluster creating 840 jobs and a farm machinery plant in Karshi

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the city of Karshi in the Kashkadarya region on October 21. He first toured the fabric production and dyeing facility of the Sulton Tex Group textile cluster in the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone.
According to official information, the $54 million project has a capacity of 20,000 tons of fabric a year and has created 840 jobs. A $3 million closed-loop system reuses more than 95 percent of process water, saving 1.1 million cubic meters a year, and solar panels with a total capacity of 3.5 MW are installed on the roof and walls. A further $70 million project in the zone will create 3,570 jobs.
Mirziyoyev said such resource-efficient technologies should serve as an example for other textile companies.
The President then visited FM World, an agricultural machinery plant that is part of China's Jiangsu World Group. Built with $20 million of foreign investment, it assembles five tractor models, cotton harvesters and other machines under the Nasaf brand and has created 200 jobs. The tractors feature GPS navigation, autopilot and remote monitoring. Local content is currently 30 percent, and the plan is to raise annual exports to $50 million.
