President Ilham Aliyev shares video from his party congress speech: "There is no place for emotions in politics"

On 4 October, President Ilham Aliyev's official social media accounts shared a video from his speech at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), in which he says: "There is no place for emotions in politics. If we had surrendered to emotions, today, a third Victory Arch would likely have been erected in the center of Yerevan."

The congress was held on 2 October at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku. Addressing it as party chairman, the president stressed that it was the first congress since Azerbaijan fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He described YAP as the largest political force not only in Azerbaijan but in the whole South Caucasus, in power for more than 30 years, and said that 8 November will forever be a holiday and that 20 September carries equal significance.
