Kazan Kremlin to open an exhibition on the Kasimov Khanate on 30 October, with finds from the 2026 excavations

On 30 October the Museum of the History of Statehood of the Tatar People and the Republic of Tatarstan in the Kazan Kremlin will formally open the exhibition "Kasimov–Khankerman (Khan-Kirmän): History and Heritage", the Kazan Kremlin museum-reserve has announced.
The show is devoted to the Kasimov Khanate, which existed for more than 200 years within the Russian state while keeping elements of traditional Turkic-Tatar governance and a Chingisid dynasty on the throne. It will display archaeological finds, weapons, plans, drawings, photographs and ethnographic objects, with a section presenting results of the 2026 field season of excavations in Kasimov by the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
Kasimov preserves monumental buildings from the mid-16th century, the mausoleums of the khans and burials of Tatar nobles of the 16th–17th centuries. The exhibition is organised by the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, the Kazan Kremlin and the Kasimov Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve together with the Tatar National-Cultural Autonomy of Ryazan Oblast.
