Kazakhstan opens a 28 km section of the Aktobe–Ulgaisyn road on the Western Europe–Western China corridor

On October 21 in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region, a 28 km section of the Aktobe–Ulgaisyn highway, between km 791 and km 819, was opened to traffic. The road is part of the Western Europe–Western China international transport corridor, and the opening was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev during a working visit.
Construction on this section is finished, while street lighting and road barriers are due to be installed within two weeks. Under the Aktobe–Ulgaisyn project, 262 km of road are being reconstructed and upgraded from Category II to Category I.
In August, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev launched three projects by videoconference: the Aktobe–Ulgaisyn, Ulgaisyn–Sekseuil and Sekseuil–Kyzylorda highways. Together they cover more than 1,900 km of construction and reconstruction over three years and are worth about 3 trillion tenge.
