TİKA restores the tomb of Crimean Tatar national poet Mehmet Niyazi in Romania

The tomb of Mehmet Niyazi, a national poet, teacher and journalist of the Crimean Tatars, has been restored at the Muslim cemetery in Medgidia, Romania. Türkiye's TİKA carried out the work together with the Mehmet Niyazi Cultural Society and the Emel Crimea Foundation.
The project covered both the tomb and landscaping of the surrounding grounds. The original monument had been built through a public donation campaign run by Emel magazine, which bears the poet's name, and Cafer Seydahmet Kırımer attended its opening.
Zafer Karatay, head of the Emel Crimea Foundation, and Neşe Sarısoy Karatay, general director of Crimea Film Days, described the condition of the tomb to TİKA President Abdullah Eren, who responded positively. An official opening ceremony is planned for the anniversary of the poet's death.
