Ashgabat City Day
The festival of the capital Ashgabat, with concerts, exhibitions and openings of new buildings in the white-marble city.

25 May is the day of Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. Lying at the foot of the Kopetdag mountains, the city was rebuilt after the 1948 earthquake and during the years of independence entered the Guinness World Records as the city with the most white-marble buildings.
Ashgabat's symbols include the Independence, Neutrality and Constitution monuments, the Älem cultural centre and the Wedding Palace; its broad avenues, fountains and parks have earned it the name "the white city".
The holiday
City Day brings openings of new buildings, concerts, exhibitions and sports events, and awards for those who have contributed to the capital's development.
