Baburnama
The memoirs of Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire, written in Chagatai Turkic.
Babur wrote his memoirs in his native Turkic (Chagatai), recording year by year events in Fergana, Transoxiana, Afghanistan and India.
More than a war chronicle, it describes cities, gardens, animals, plants and customs and candidly records his own successes and mistakes, making it one of the first great autobiographies in world literature.
Under his grandson Akbar it was translated into Persian in 1589–1590 and illustrated with miniatures; today it is read in dozens of languages.
