László Sólyom
Hungary's third president (1942–2023) and the first President of its Constitutional Court.
A jurist active in the democratic movement of the late 1980s, László Sólyom was the first President of the Constitutional Court in 1990–1998; under him the Court declared the death penalty unconstitutional.
Parliament elected him president in 2005 and he served until 2010, giving particular attention to environmental protection.
