'The Road of Friendship' concert in Ashgabat: Kazakh artists sing Magtymguly's verses in the terme style

On 24 October the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre in Ashgabat hosted "The Road of Friendship", a festive concert dedicated to Turkmen–Kazakh friendship. Music lovers, diplomats, members of the creative intelligentsia and young people from the capital attended.

Kazakhstan's ambassador to Turkmenistan, Nurlan Nogayev, opened the evening and spoke about relations between the two countries. The vocal ensemble "Dauys" of the Gaziza Zhubanova Aktobe Regional Philharmonic performed polyphonic folk songs in modern arrangements, and the "Akku" ensemble presented dance numbers.

Oral-Kosai Baisengir, soloist of the Kazakh folk instruments orchestra, sang verses by Magtymguly Fragi in the traditional terme style. Nurken Ashirov, Honoured Cultural Figure of Kazakhstan, performed a fantasy variation on the Turkmen folk song "Bibijan" and the overture to Danatar Ovezov's opera "Leyli and Majnun". The concert ended with warm applause.
