Chui region turns 100: a 120-metre chuchuk, a yurt village and concerts in Bishkek

Bishkek celebrated the centenary of Chui region on 10 October. The symbol of the festivities was a chuchuk more than 120 metres long — the national Kyrgyz horse-meat sausage was shared out among guests on the square. The organisers aimed to beat the 117-metre chuchuk made in Kyrgyzstan in 2018; some local outlets put the finished length at 128 metres.
The celebrations were attended by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev, members of the Jogorku Kenesh, foreign guests and residents of the capital. An ethno-village of yurts from the region's districts was set up on the square, where visitors could see traditional Kyrgyz life, taste national dishes and look at local products and projects by young inventors.
The day also included a concert programme and a fair. Flowers were laid at the monument to the celebrated Kyrgyz poet Alykul Osmonov in front of the National Library.
