Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov spoke about the country's transport and industrial plans in meetings with residents during a working visit to the Jalal-Abad region. According to the head of state, a state programme will gradually replace old petrol and diesel cars with electric vehicles, and all government vehicles will switch to electric.

An electric-car plant under construction in Bishkek is expected to open by the end of this year or in March–April 2027. It will start with passenger cars and later move on to larger vehicles; the plant is designed for roughly 10,000 cars a year. The president said replacing the whole national vehicle fleet could take 15–20 years.

Kazinform, citing the Kabar agency, also reported that at a meeting with residents of Nooken and Mailuu-Suu Japarov announced a new refinery in Kochkor-Ata with a capacity of 450,000 tonnes of petroleum products a year, which would create about 300 jobs. Reviving the electric-lamp plant in Mailuu-Suu and a planned industrial park there were discussed as well.
