Seabed surveys for the Türkiye–Northern Cyprus natural gas pipeline begin in the Mediterranean on 26 October

Preparations for a planned natural gas pipeline between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are moving to a new stage. According to a NAVTEX notice issued by the Antalya station on 23 October, scientific research and underwater work at 12 coordinates in the Mediterranean will run from 26 October to 31 December 2026.
The survey vessels Denar Pathfinder, Denar Echo, Denar Explorer and Kırıcı will carry out the work, and ships passing through the area are asked to keep a safe distance.
BRT reports that the aim is to bring Turkish natural gas to the island in due course and to strengthen Northern Cyprus's energy supply security. It describes the project as the next major infrastructure step after the undersea drinking-water pipeline from Türkiye. No route or length has been disclosed.
