Nordic combined
Ski jumping and cross-country skiing in a single event — the only Winter Olympic sport still for men only.

In Nordic combined the athlete first jumps from a ski jump, then races in cross-country skiing. Under the Gundersen method the leader after the jump starts the race first — and whoever crosses the line first wins.
History
The event arose at Norway's Holmenkollen races in the nineteenth century and has been on the programme since the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Women's events were again left out at Milano Cortina 2026, so Nordic combined remains the last men-only discipline of the Winter Games.
Major competitions
The Olympic Games, the FIS World Championships and the World Cup.
In the Turkic world
Kazakhstan's strong cross-country tradition and Almaty's ski-jump complex provide a base for the sport, and Erzurum's jumping and cross-country venues offer opportunities in Türkiye.
