On October 20 Turkmenistan and Qatar held political consultations between their foreign ministries in Ashgabat. Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov and Qatar by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

The sides discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation, including arranging high-level visits, improving the legal framework and cooperating within the United Nations and other multilateral platforms. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

In trade and economy they considered expanding business ties, investment and joint projects through forums, business meetings and round tables, along with cooperation in energy, digital technology and tourism, naming the Joint Turkmen-Qatari Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation as the key mechanism. Reciprocal Days of Culture, education, sports and joint cultural events were also discussed. The report mentions no signed documents.
