A presidential resolution in Uzbekistan establishes the Tashkent International Fashion Academy. It will be a state higher-education institution operating under the Agency for the Development of Light Industry.

The Academy grows out of the joint educational programme of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry and the Paris International Fashion Academy. Students of the current programme will continue their studies there and graduates will receive the Academy's diploma. Classes start in the 2026/2027 academic year.

From 2027/2028 a dual education system will be introduced for the textile, garment, knitwear, leather and footwear industries, based on enterprise requests. A 400-bed student dormitory is to be built through a public-private partnership by the end of 2028.

Under the resolution the Academy will design clothing for government-contracted organisations and help create national brands. Foreign specialists and international students are also to receive multiple-entry visas and residence registration.
