On October 21, the İMKON Rehabilitation Center and Multi-Purpose Private Preschool Education Institution opened in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is the fifth centre of the İMKON network. Emine Erdoğan, wife of the Turkish President, cut the ribbon together with Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, wife of the Uzbek President, her daughter Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, and first ladies and family members of leaders from several other countries.

The rehabilitation wing serves more than 100 children aged 2–18, with rooms for fairy-tale therapy, fine motor skills, social adaptation, art therapy, physiotherapy, sensory integration and paraffin therapy. The preschool wing has room for 150 children aged 2–7.

The guests toured the centre, looked at meals prepared for children with special needs and talked with pupils and teachers. In a social media post, Emine Erdoğan wished the centre success and said the initiative brings hope to Uzbekistan's children and strength to their parents. The opening followed the world summit on children's well-being held in Samarkand.
