KarlukThe south-eastern branch, named after the Karluk tribal union of the 8th–10th centuries. The first Islamic Turkic literary language arose here under the Karakhanids, followed by Chagatai, the language of Alisher Navoi. Uzbek and Uyghur are its heirs today.
