More than forty Turkic peoples — where they live, how many they are, their languages and beliefs.

OghuzThe south-western branch of the Turkic languages, named after the medieval Oghuz tribes; in the 11th century Mahmud al-Kashgari counted 22 of them. Oghuz tribes founded the Seljuk and Ottoman states. Turks, Azerbaijani Turks, Turkmens, the Gagauz and the Qashqai belong to this branch.
