Labour Day
The holiday of working people — Labour and Solidarity Day in Türkiye and the Feast of Labour in Hungary; a day off in Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, the TRNC and Hungary.

1 May is the international holiday of working people, commemorating the workers' movement that began in Chicago in 1886 with the demand for an eight-hour working day.
In Türkiye 1 May has again been an official holiday since 2009 under the name Labour and Solidarity Day. Hungary marks the Feast of Labour (A munka ünnepe), and the day is a public holiday by law in Kyrgyzstan and the TRNC as well; in Kazakhstan 1 May is celebrated as the Unity Day of the People.
How it is marked
Trade unions hold marches and rallies, city parks host concerts and family festivities, and many people spend the day outdoors enjoying the spring.
